No one wants to go first. We want someone else to go first to make it easier on us. But one of my coaches always reminds me: “You first”.
You want them to think you’re awesome and then you’ll feel awesome. If they think you’re awesome first, it’ll be much easier for you to agree.
But it doesn’t work that way. You first.
You want to finish the marathon or fit into the jeans and then you’ll feel confident and attractive. If the circumstances line up first, it’ll be easier for you to feel the way you want to feel.
Nope. You first. The circumstances won’t line up until you go first.
You want to feel financial security so you go to work earning and saving and sacrificing. But I know miserable millionaires (Do you? I hope you do. It’s very Enlightening). They have millions and they don’t feel financially secure, so it’s obviously not about the number in your bank account.
You have to feel the way you want to feel first, because if you wait until the circumstances make it easier you’ll never get there. Like anything, financial security is a feeling you generate first. You first.
You go first, not only because you can’t count on anyone or anything else going first (although you can’t)…
…but because when you go first, they follow. It’s always that way. Circumstances and people line up to give you want you want ONLY AFTER you go first. Not SO THAT you can feel the way you want to feel.
You first.
[…] (This applies to relationships with anyone, by the way. Give what you want to get. Be the change you want to see. You first.) […]
